Jane Lander is a Hunter based artist with a practice in painting, printmaking and drawing. She describes her interest as universal and personal investigating domestic socio-political injustices and environmental concerns.
Jane applied for the Windmill Trust Scholarship to assist framing and transportation for a show at the Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery in 2011 - Jane Lander: this is the big picture, works on paper 1996-2011. Six double portraits of couples in long-term relationships were included with each using different materials and techniques that characterised the subjects. Jane said “Presenting a professional and cohesive show was paramount to me and framing the portraits was pivotal to its overall success”.
Jane’s advice to anyone applying for the Windmill Scholarship is “Make sure you fulfill the criteria set down in the guidelines; get advice from fellow practitioners and the relevant funding organization; give yourself ample time to get the application together and make sure your support material matches your proposal.”
